banjo's 10th

My (well, our) sweet pup's 10th birthday was Tuesday.  I have never celebrated her birthday before but figured 10 was a pretty big deal!  So...

She got cupcakes!!  I bought some doggie-specific peanut butter cupcakes for her.

They were pretty hard and she didn't know what to think at first.  She tossed it around for a while before she finally ate it.

Then, she licked her bed clean!

Her birthday morning portrait in the rain.  Love this girl!

She also got a stuffed mallard.  And, man oh man, does she love this thing!!

She even sleeps with it.  She brought it to the bedroom that first night and keeps it with her at all times.  I have never seen her do that before.

And, just like her mom, she gets to celebrate her birthday all week with more cupcakes.  :)

We love this precious dog and are hoping for many more years with her.  Thankfully (most of the time), she still acts like she's 5!

one-skillet sausage and polenta parmesan

This was amazing and really easy!!  Seriously, Brad even started it before I got home.  :)

I used some Italian garlic polenta that I just happened to have in the fridge.  We also used Johnsonville Italian sausage links and just diced those finely.  You could certainly use breakfast sausage or chicken too.  I omitted the mushrooms and used crushed tomatoes instead of crushing it by hand.

Enjoy!

uga vs uf and ole miss

This past weekend, we went to Athens for the Ole Miss game.  The last home game was Tennessee, over a month ago, so it was great to be back and an absolutely beautiful day.  Megan and Adi were there also!  I am loving them being back in GA.  We've seen them three out of the last four weekends and are loving it.

Adi's friend Brad joined us as well.  They played football together at Furman and Brad works for UGA now.

Trey and Michele came to town too and joined us on North Campus before the game.  It's hard to see here but Hal and Michele are playing football.  He's the cutest!

Me and Megan on North Campus.  Seriously, it was Chamber of Commerce weather - perfect!

To visit with Megan and Adi some more, we passed our tickets along to friends and sat with them in Adi's old boss' seats.  They are really great seats and ended up being in the shade.  I had on black leggings so the direct sun would have been a little much.  UGA started a little slow but dominated the second half.  Now, providing we can beat Auburn this weekend, we will be the SEC East Champs.  After getting dominated by South Carolina, this is the last thing we expected...

Even after that South Carolina game, we decided to have folks over for the UF game.  I fully expected us to get whipped but, man, was that an amazing game.  We ended up having an amazing time!!

Gail and Allen

Jay and Beth.  Beth had to wear a touch of orange to support her Hokies. :)

William, Liza and Aidan

Well, we got two of the Rigsby's looking.  :)

Me, Brad, Bill, Megan and Adi.  We are not sure what Bill was thinking wearing that orange shirt.  Apparently he couldn't find a red one so we know what to get him for Christmas!!

It is usually hard to get folks together for the games because we have friends that are fans of other teams but it worked out pretty well this time.  We were actually missing most of the UGA folks.  GO DAWGS!!

good music and friends

Two weeks ago, we were invited to Pops at the Bell by William and Liza.  It featured the Four Tops and was a blast!  William's Mom has a table on the floor (that she was kind enough to give us for the evening) so we were pretty close and had some food and wine to enjoy.  Mike and Blake and Liza's friends Ann and Brent joined us as well.

The Four Tops singing 'Bernadette,' accompanied by the Augusta Symphony.

A few weeks ago, I went to see Dailey and Vincent with Daddy.  They are a great bluegrass band that performed at The Imperial Theatre as part of the Southern Soul & Song series the Morris Museum hosts each year.  So much fun!

I had lunch recently with my friend Ginger and her adorable daughter Zoe.  Isn't she the cutest?  Ginger and I actually worked together in Birmingham and she moved to Augusta with her husband shortly before I returned.  She is a great jewelry designer!
