Charleston

Last weekend, Brad and I returned to Charleston.  It was a blast but it made me miss it so badly!!  We went to Magnolias and Coast for our dinners and hit Fat Hen for brunch.  Of course, we spent Saturday on the beach too.  We are already out of practice though because we forgot chairs!  Man, I hate laying on my towel on the beach now.  Spoiled!

Next time, we are going for a week for sure!  We didn't get to see many friends or enjoy enough food.  :)

Traci's shower

On August 22, Mom and I traveled to Atlanta for my cousin Traci's wedding shower.  We visited with my grandmother in Alpharetta that morning and then drove over to Grayson that afternoon.  She and Joel are getting married on 10.10.10 and we are all so excited for them.  Here I am with Karla and Traci.  Don't get to see these girls nearly enough!!

Champions

For the night of August 20, we celebrated all the husbands' birthdays!  Win's was August 18, Preston's August 25 and Brad's September 6.  Crazy huh?  So, the boys played golf out at Champions that afternoon and we joined them for dinner and spent the night in a cottage.  It was so much fun!

Two Good Books

I just finished two really good books!  They are very different so maybe some of you will enjoy one or the other.

This is your typical thriller/suspense/mystery.  I have read several of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books and this is the best by far.  This one I finished in two days.  I can't wait for the followup in October!

Not my normal fare but I really enjoyed it.  I picked this up on a whim at a bookstore's BOGO table.  This book really intrigued me and told the complete story of Lincoln's murder and the hunt for JWB.  Here are some random facts: JWB was a famous actor, the plot was to kill the VP and Secretary of State that same night as well, etc.  There are many others but I don't want to ruin it.

I am finally getting back to reading after a busy summer so there will be more to come!

Chicken with Yellow Rice

Cooked a family favorite tonight. I forgot how good and easy it is!!

Chicken with Yellow Rice

3-4 chicken breasts

1.5 cups yellow rice

2 cups water

1 cup tomato juice

1 teaspoon salt

1 clove garlic, minced

1 bay leaf
Chopped onion and green pepper (optional)
Dump dry rice in the bottom of a casserole dish. Lay uncooked chicken on top. Mix all remaining ingredients together and pour on top of chicken. Bake, covered, until chicken is done (about an hour) at 350 degrees.

Megan & Adi

So, the engagement I hinted at below is Megan and Adi's!!!
They were in Bosnia visiting all his family that Megan did not know so I wanted to wait until their return. He popped the question while they were in Croatia after the family visits. They have been together since high school!!
We are so happy for them. They move to Chicago next week for Adi to start the MBA program at University of Chicago. We are already excited about going to visit!
No wedding details yet. They are just enjoying the engagement!
